Sidney Sheldon Sidney Schechtel was born on 11 February 1917 in Chicago, Illinois. His mother was Natalie Marcus, a jew-Russian immigrants, who loved no formal training, but books and classical music. His father, Asher (Otto), has many different jobs, such as the family moved from city to city. He prided himself on never having read a book in her life.
Sydney was Jorja Curtright, one on stage and film actress and later married an interior designer for over 30 years. They had aDaughter Mary, who has also published a novelist. Jorja died in 1985. Sydney married the former child soldiers actress Alexandra Kostoff in 1989.
